I am currently participating in this sound art exhibition called “Derau” (Indonesian word for “noise”). This exhibition is held by a new media art community named Common Room . This exhibition runs for [...] · View

well it didn’t go too bad after all, I’m keeping all the kinect processing in a separate thread which will update the values that will be drawn in the sketch, the animation is way smoother. Still we are having some issues with kinect getting stuck from time to time while detecting blobs, it varies from [...]

Blob tracking can be quite expensive specially if combined with other methods like calculating the amount of movement, if somebody is experiencing a laggy animation, try threading, there’s a very easy to follow wiki entry on this http://wiki.processing.org/w/Threading

Thank you for the feedback Keir. Indeed, with this type of screen it’s not likely to expect very detailed objects on screen and more undefined shapes and colours which will remind more to children crayon sketches. Since the drawings should only remain on screen as long as the user is in front of it, I [...]

ThumbnailImpressive Friday, I didn’t even notice we spent 5 hours in the lab listening to the presentations, very lively discussions indeed with feedback and questions flying back and forth, I left with a great positive feeling from this massive brainstorming. I’ll quickly go through the research process again before getting in detail with two of the [...]

Hi everyone, This Thursday at 6pm a new exhibition in performance and interactive art is opening in Performance Space, right behind the campus, most of us will be still busy with the final touches of our presentations but it seems interesting and we can collect some last minute ideas, here’s a brief description from the [...]

Being on the initial steps towards our Media Façade installation, the publications from Dalsgaard P., Halskov. They board the challenges which artists might face when confronting the design as such an installation and, based in [...]

Thanks for posting these. Selecting one of the chapters of the Urban Screens reader would also be eligible as ”research paper” for the grounding phase. Although many of these articles focus more on the issues from a sociology perspective, rather than interaction.

Call me romantic, but when facing visual programming I’m not exactly enthusiastic, I feel way more confortable with the good ol’ lines of code. This week working with QC has been probably the most technologically frustrating experience in a long time. Yes, QC can do very nice things, it has multitude of plugins and allows [...]
